The Department for Work and Pensions has announced that 15 Jobcentre Plus sites will be testing an autism framework, designed with the National Autistic Society (NAS), to transform the service available to jobseekers on the autism spectrum. The framework pilot will aim to help people with autism find, retain and progress in fulfilling jobs.

The Government has published a consultation on disability workforce reporting. The consultation is one of the commitments in the National Disability Strategy and will run until 25 March 2022.

The consultation seeks views on how employers with more than 250 employees might be encouraged to collect and report statistics about disability to make their workforces more inclusive. They want to build an evidence base to better understand:

DWP has p[ublished its 2021 Employment Provision Commissioning Strategy. The strategy sets out how the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) will support the intention to see one million more disabled people in work by 2027.

PageGroup, a global recruitment specialist, has published a study which shines a light on the wide range of perceived barriers facing disabled individuals in the world of work. During a period of candidate shortages across multiple sectors, PageGroup polled 1,000 business leaders to understand the obstacles their business faces when looking to hire disabled candidates.

BASE is joining a research project being led by the Scottish Centre for Employment Research (SCER). The project is funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and seeks to identify the challenges we need to address if we are to maximise the growth and potential of IPS and Supported Employment in the future.

The National Audit office has published a report about the Government's Kickstart programme. It found that the Department for Work and Pensions was not able to say how much of the economic value of Kickstart jobs is additional.

The Government has responded to the Work and Pensions Committee inquiry into the disability employment gap. BASE gave both written and oral evidence to the committee which published its report in July.
