The ESFA has published the guidance and cost form for exceptional learning support for the 2019 to 2020 funding year.

Providers and employers must complete the estimated cost of exceptional learning support at the beginning of a learner’s programme and submit the completed cost form by email to exceptional.learningsupportclaims@education.gov.uk.

DWP has published details of Access to Work statistics from 2007 to 2019. 32,010 people had applications for support approved in 2018-19 and inflation-adjusted spending has increased to exceed 2010 levels for the first time in 5 years. Total expenditure for 2018-19 was just over £129m.

Government is consulting on the different ways that it and employers can take action to reduce ill health-related job loss. It published its consultation document, Health is Everyone's Business, recently and BASE wishes to reflect member views in its response. The consultation is open until 7 October and can be completed online.  BASE will ber seeking member views shortly and the consultation questions are attached below.

A survey of 500 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) by a solicitor firm, Bolt Burdon Kemp, has found that found many don’t understand how to cater for disabled employees. The survey found that 93% of those surveyed would like more information and training about disability employment law.
