Kingston seeks supported employment provider

The Royal Borough of Kingston (the Council) proposes to provide a supported employment service for clients known to the Council, aged between 18-64, including: Learning Disabilities (LD), Homelessness, Drug and Alcohol misuse, Mental Health, LD Children and Young People in Transition This service will be delivered in the Royal Borough of Kingston.

The provider will be required to deliver the service in order to help people in Kingston who face complex barriers into employment by addressing these barriers, and by helping them to navigate and access the range of provision available. The Council has recently developed an ‘All age Learning Disability Strategy’ which aims to reduce health inequalities, maximise independence and well-being and reduce stigma and discrimination for a group of people that faces many barriers to having ‘ordinary’ lives.

With this in mind, the supported employment service has been designed to support the following changes:

  • Support more clients known to the Council’s Adult Social Care (ASC) Teams into employment.
  • Support to access training and jobs which match growth employment sectors and other opportunities which are present in the local labour market.
  • Create a strongly linked network of partners across the Council and local voluntary and community sectors to ensure that this service is joined up with other agencies the client would be receiving services from.

The closing date for expressions of interest for this 3-year contract is 8 May 2019.
