Blackburn with Darwen Council

New Directions are part of Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council Children’s Services. We offer impartial careers information, advice and guidance to residents of the borough aged from 14-19 (or up to age 25 if SEND or a care leaver).

The team are also responsible for the council’s statutory duty to track the participation of 16-18 year olds in learning, training and employment.

Details of the services we offer

Post 16 education: tracking 16-18 year old participation and supporting re-engagement, providing a careers guidance service for young people aged 14 – 19 (up to 25 if SEND), developing provision post 16, including the offer to SEND young people.

We work in partnership with our local FE college who offer supported internship programmes.
