BASE announces new Chair as Julia Green steps down

2 hours ago   (0 Comments)

After eight years of exceptional leadership, Julia Green is stepping down as Chair of the British Association for Supported Employment (BASE).

Julia has been BASE’s longest serving Chair and has played a significant role in guiding the organisation through periods of growth, change and external challenge.
Under Julia’s leadership, BASE has developed into a modern, trusted membership organisation and is widely recognised as the leading voice for supported employment in the UK, as well as a critical friend to policymakers and an essential partner internationally. Her calm, thoughtful and principled approach has had a lasting impact on both the organisation and the wider sector.

While stepping down from the role of Chair, Julia will continue to be an active member of BASE, and we look forward to continuing to benefit from her insight, experience and passion.

BASE is pleased to announce that Maurice George has been elected as the new Chair.
Maurice brings a strong commitment to inclusive employment, a deep understanding of supported employment practice, and a collaborative leadership style. He takes on the role at a time when BASE is entering an exciting next phase, continuing to strengthen quality, influence and impact across the sector.

On behalf of everyone at BASE, we would like to thank Julia for her outstanding service and leadership, and warmly welcome Maurice as he begins his role as Chair.
