In this session, Emma Shepherd, an experienced Inclusive Trading Associate will explore what Reverse Jobs Fairs (RjF) are & share ideas on how you could plan and prepare to hold your own event.
Traditionally, a jobs or careers fair is where employers, job agencies, service and training providers come together to offer job seekers information and be on hand to answer questions. Some large employers may also have apprenticeships, entry level roles or graduate programmes that they are wishing to fill. These were once solely undertaken face to face, but since Covid 19 there are still some on-line jobs fairs. They are often held in hotels, colleges or community centres and each employer will have a stand trying to attract a candidate. They are naturally busy, buzzing, noisy and can be intimidating to approach an employer, particularly if you have a learning disability too.
A Reverse Jobs Fair (RjF) takes the Jobs Fairs concept and turns it on its head. It has the job seeker at the heart and centre of the event. RjF are bespoke, less intimidating and puts the onus on the employer to circumnavigate the room. To make a RjF work well, then it will need planning.
This session is aimed at anyone from either a supported employment service, training provider, housing association, DWP or other partners, who wish to deliver a local, well delivered RjF. Emma will provide a workshop which will provide the background to what a RjF is and provide practical step by step advice and tips of how to put on your own event.
