This report evaluates a scheme that provided employment support based on the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model, alongside the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) programme. The pilot was 1 of 4 commissioned by the Department of Health and the Department for Work and Pensions based on recommendations in the 2014 report Psychological Wellbeing and Work: Improving Service Provision and Outcomes. It was designed to test service design, methods of tracking findings and initial effects.

Supported internships were one of a number of initiatives proposed in the 2011 special educational needs (SEN) green paper ‘Support and aspiration: a new approach to special educational needs and disability’. A supported internship programme provides a structured study programme for students between 16 and 24 with a learning difficulty assessment (LDA). The programme includes on-the-job training, backed by expert job coaches and complementary college-based learning including access to relevant qualifications, where appropriate.

The report considers the evidence for the business case for equality and diversity in private sector organisations. The aim is not to make the business case, but to assess the current evidence from academic journals and some key practitioner sources. Key Findings: * Studies appear to have found evidence that firms have reaped business benefits from equality & diversity, but not all firms in all contexts at all times.
