Scottish Braille Press

The Scottish Braille Press is a department of the charity Royal Blind, registered charity no. SCO17167, and is a leading provider of high quality alternative formats such as Braille, Large Print and Audio. Founded in 1891 we have many years of experience and are experts in our field.

We are one of the largest providers of alternative formats in the country and are renowned for our professionalism, the quality of our output and the level of service that we provide. We have a skilled and experienced staff and this blend of experience and skills, combined with our continuous investment in technology, gives us the ability to offer outstanding transcription at a competitive price.

We have a wide customer base which includes many blue chip clients and we work closely with them operating within agreed service levels and providing advice and the benefits of our experience. As many of our employees are themselves visually impaired we have immediate access to end-users and can provide feedback to our clients on their products and services.

As an acknowledgment of our experience and standing within the alternative format sector the Scottish Braille Press provides two representatives to the Braille Authority of the United Kingdom (BAUK). This is the Braille standards setting body for the UK. It liaises internationally on Braille standards and development with similar bodies in other countries. Additionally the Scottish Braille Press is a member of the United Kingdom Association of Braille Producers (UKABP) and the Confederation of Transcribed Information Services (COTIS).

The Scottish Braille Press welcomes the opportunity to discuss your requirements. We are happy to offer advice and to talk through the range of options available to you.
