National Disability Strategy consultation

We're consulting to gather your views about the Government's National Disability Strategy. The strategy was announced last April and is due to be published in Spring 2021. We are involved in some of the cross-government working groups and want to make sure that we're reflecting your views.

Please complete our survey. It should take 20-30 minutes to complete but it will provide us with vital information for our submission to the strategy.

Access to Jobs campaign

BASE has joined with a coalition of organisations to press the case for better jobs support for young people who have a disability. The recent Plan for Jobs announcements have included employer incentives for taking on apprentices and traineeships but there is no comparable incentive for Supported Internship participants. We're asking for easier access and good quality support for young people on Kickstart, more Disability Employment Advisors and parity for Supported Internships.

Please read our ask of DWP and DfE and then add your voice to the campaign. The coalition, led by National Deaf Childrens Society, has created some template letters that you can personalise before they are automatically sent on to Vicky Ford (Minister for Children and Families at the Department for Education) and Theresa Coffey (Secretary of State at the Department for Work and Pensions). A copy of each letter will also be sent to your MP.
