Consultation: Health is Everyone's Business

Government is consulting on the different ways that it and employers can take action to reduce ill health-related job loss. It published its consultation document, Health is Everyone's Business, recently and BASE wishes to reflect member views in its response. The consultation is open until 7 October and can be completed online.  BASE will ber seeking member views shortly and the consultation questions are attached below.

Disabled people are twice as likely to fall out of work as non-disabled people and 10 times more likely to leave work following long-term sickness absence than non-disabled people.

The proposals aim to support and encourage early action by employers for their employees with long-term health conditions, and improve access to quality, cost-effective occupational health.

The Department for Work and Pensions and the Department of Health and Social Care want to understand the effect of these proposals on:

  • business
  • individuals
  • the occupational health profession
