The competition is open to disabled entrepreneurs on the management board, and with ownership, of any business in the UK.

A new service line for "In-Work Progression" has been added to the Test & Learn DPS. Providers must be accredited against the new In-Work Progression service line to be eligible to receive the ITTs in relation to these projects outlined.

The 13th EUSE conference was held in Amsterdam last week. EUSE, the European Union of Supported Employment, is the umbrella body for 21 national European associations and has held a biennial conference since 1993. 

Ofsted has updated its guidance on the new education inspection framework that comes into force from September 2019. Ofsted will refocus inspections of schools, early years settings and further education and skills providers, to make sure that learners are receiving a high-quality education that puts them on a path to future success.

Ofsted inspectors will spend less time looking at exam results and test data, and more time considering how a school, college or other education provider has achieved their results.

NICE, the National Institute for Health & Care Excellence, is consulting on a draft of their updated guidance on Workplace health: long-term sickness absence and capability to work.

The Employer of the Year categories are open to employers from all sectors and celebrates employers who can showcase their commitment, contribution and the success that apprenticeships have brought to their organisation. 

A new quality mark has been launched for Supported Businesses. The Social Enterprise Disabilty Employment Mark (SEDEM) has been designed specifically for the supported business sector, with the aim of providing assurance for commissioners/funding bodies and disabled people on the specialist supportive environment provided for employees with disabilities.

NHS England has announced a major expansion of a landmark scheme designed to help tens of thousands of patients with serious mental health problems who want to work, to find employment.
The voluntary scheme, known as Individual Placement and Support (IPS), is being rolled out to 28 new local NHS areas, meaning eight out of ten parts of England will have access to the programme.

Mencap is currently in the process of finalising a report based on a series of workshops on apprenticeships that was held earlier this year and is seeking case studies to illustrate the report and highlight the difficulties people face.
