Enable Ability
Inter Activ is a Social Enterprise in Portsmouth and based at the Landport Community Centre (now rebranded as 'Landport Inter Activ') and the Weald and Downland Living Museum near Chichester.
The social enterprise has been fully funded for three years from 2019 by The National Lottery Community Fund, for which we are eternally grateful, after which it plans to be self-sufficient both operationally and financially.
It offers FREE work experience programmes for young people with a mild to moderate learning or physical disability or additional need, designed to help them find gainful or meaningful employment at the end of their respective programme, including up to three months support in the workplace. Please refer to the attached leaflet for more details.
Inter Activ is a partnership between Enable Ability and Game Over, a provider of retro-gaming experiences in Portsmouth including an exhibition in Portsmouth City Museumand a video-gaming Café in Old Portsmouth. Steve Lowe, owner of Game Over, shares our aspirations to help young people find work and has been providing opportunities in this area for many years.
Inter Activ has a number of working partners including PALS Society, Portsmouth College, Job Centre Plus and Portsmouth City Council. It has registered with the DWP's programme called Disability Confident at the committed level to receive and share best practices when working with young people with disabilities. It has also received training from the British Association for Supported Employment and has a place at the School for Social Entrepreneurs.
