Action on Disability

Action on Disability is a Disabled People’s Organisation (DPO) led by disabled people, for disabled people. We work to ensure that disabled people have independence, choice and control over their own lives. We began life in 1979 as Hammersmith and Fulham Action on Disability (HAFAD). In over forty years we have grown a lot and have services available across West London. We are now known as Action on Disability and follow the Social Model of Disability, which recognises that people are disabled by barriers in society, not their impairments.
The Employment Service supports disabled people looking for work, in work and on supported internships. We also help employers who wish to be more inclusive.
Looking for work
We make sure you know about your rights and reasonable adjustments. This means you can look for the work you want, in the way you want.
In-work
We provide Job Coaches, Support Workers and travel support.
We make sure your employer is making reasonable adjustments. We support you with Access to Work claims.
Supported internships
We run three supported internships for young people aged 16-25. They are at Charing Cross Hospital, Hammersmith and Fulham Council, and Kensington and Chelsea Council.
Employer support
We provide training and support for employers who want to make sure their workplace is inclusive.
