2econd Chance
2econd Chance is a not-for-profit computer recycling company which provides practical hands-on training for NEET adults and young people aged 16-25 with an Education Health Care Plan.
Unwanted computers are donated to us by schools and business which our trainees refurbish under the guidance of our staff. Our trainees learn how to wipe data, install windows 10, partition disks and replace RAM and hard drives.
Completed machines are used to bridge the digital divide either being sold at affordable prices with 1 in 4 of every machine we receive being donated back into the local community through our partners.
Services we offer
- Computer refurbishment including secure data destruction
- Informal training programme for anyone not in employment interested in learning about IT. We are currently going through the process of having our entry level qualification (12 weeks) accredited by the British Computer Society and plan to create another 2 levels to be delivered over an academic year
- Access to free refurbished laptops to support our partner organisations. Thanks to funding from Barnet Together and North London Waste Authority we have created a Refurbished Laptop Scheme allowing any organisations in Barnet to refer an individual to receive a free laptop. - Signposting for trainees for other training courses or into employment
- Monthly programme of speakers about how IT is used in wide range of careers
The geographical areas we cover
Based in Barnet we have developed close links with local voluntary and community sector organisations. We welcome trainees from across North London including Barnet, Brent, Haringey, Enfield and Camden and deliver for an SEND school in Uxbridge.
Donations of computers come from across London and the surrounding areas depending on office locations for our donors. Where organisations donate more than 100 machines, we offer them 25% of their machines back so they can support local charities they work with
