Supported Employment Coordinators (Discovery)

Salary: £18,000pa
Post: Two posts, Permanent, 37 hr/wk
Location: Post 1: Bridgwater; Post 2: Taunton

Supported employment is a personalised, person-centred approach to matching the right person to the right job. In Discovery’s supported employment team we believe in raising aspirations and building employment opportunities to enable individuals to make informed decisions about work.

Established in 2017, Discovery is a Somerset-based social enterprise dedicated to ensuring that people with learning disabilities and autism have greater choice and control in their lives and are given a louder voice in society. We have ambitious plans to deliver the most effective and personalised support possible, ensuring that the people we support are the heart of everything we do.

We are recruiting for a number of roles across Somerset. The roles are home based and really flexible in terms of your working hours, although we are looking ideally for a commitment of a minimum of 30 hours each week. The roles involve a significant amount of travel within the region, for which mileage will be paid.

 

About the Role

As a Supported Employment Co-ordinator, you'll be expected to:

  • Manage a caseload of clients we are supporting who are looking to move into paid employment.
  • Work with your clients to understand their skills, this can be in a variety of settings including their homes, or in the community.
  • Build relationships and engage with local employers.
  • Support your clients as they transition into the workplace until they are confident and independent.


About You

We have had Supported Employment Co-Ordinators join us from all different backgrounds, and we will provide full training. Whatever your background you’ll need to show:

  • Excellent diary and time management skills to manage a varied and busy workload
  • Good technology skills as you work from home, we’ll provide you with a laptop and mobile
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills

We will support you to obtain Training in Systematic Instruction (TSI) and your Level 3 Supported Practitioner Qualification.
