United Response is a leading national charity providing support to young people and adults with learning disabilities and mental health needs. We believe in championing the right of disabled people to live, work, socialise and participate in the community, free of discrimination and unnecessary boundaries.

Making it happen - your Role

You will be working on a 12 month project, funded via DWP, supporting those hardest to help with complex and multiple barriers. The project is for those with learning disabilities, autism and mental health conditions.

You will work on an outreach basis meeting the client in their local communities, ensuring they are comfortable and confident to meet. The end to end support package will be delivered over a 13-week period, due to the complex nature of those that our service specialises in supporting; they require more intensive 1:1 support to gain the same opportunities and experiences as those without complex barriers.

The support will be made up of meetings/activities each week, to include face to face and work on the persons’ behalf, such as employer engagement.

The content of provision will include:

  • Initial meetings with the person and if appropriate parent / carers, which will also take into account any health issues, support networks and any perceived barriers
  • Full in depth person centred planning process taking into account all aspects of their past experiences, support requirements and aspirations in regards to paid employment
  • Identifying Travel Training requirements and 1:1 support to develop safe travel requirements
  • Support to obtain work experience opportunities that would lead to paid employment, which would include work trials as an alternative to traditional recruitment methods
  • Ongoing assessment and support prior to any paid employment opportunities
  • Support around CV Building, Confidence and Motivational Support, Work Behaviours
  • Support and signposting to other organisations which may be identified as part of the support and planning process, which could include Housing, Social Care and Benefits advice
  • Offer of training and support to employers to aid work experience opportunities and paid employment, this includes any reasonable adjustments for the person
  • Working with local Job Centres in order to enable a clear and timely referral system

What we need from you

As a Job Coach you will:

  • Use a full diagnostic profiling tool that will assess all elements of the persons journey.
  • Evidence all ongoing updates which are fully documented to signal distance travelled by the person and show progression towards a paid employment outcome
  • Full risk assessments and health & safety checks to comply with support and evidence gathering.
  • Comply with United Response’s quality assurance procedures for the delivery and support of employment services
  • The performance offer to be provided by the Job Coach;
  • 100% of people accessing the project to complete an action plan and 100% to achieve an agreed social justice outcome. We deliver multiple social justice outcomes daily, e.g. every person has an action plan. We will meet as a minimum: CV creation, interview techniques, action planning, social inclusion, accessing community/local groups and activities.
  • To enable the person to be supported into a paid employment outcome, a comprehensive Action Plan will be accomplished and shared with local Job Centre Plus.
  • We will work in partnership with Job Centre Plus, locally with Disability Employment Advisors and Work Coaches to support their progression towards paid employment.
