If this sounds like you, then you might be ideal for our new Employment Specialist or Senior Employment Specialist roles.

Working in partnership with Turning Point, Groundwork’s IPS team aims to increase the number of people moving into, and then sustaining employment from the community drug and alcohol treatment service in Oldham and Rochdale. This will be through individual support to service users and negotiating and supporting employers to offer work to people recovering from substance misuse problems.

We are now recruiting people to work across the following geographical areas:

  • IPS Employment Specialist covering Oldham
  • IPS Employment Specialist covering Rochdale

These roles will deliver employment support to people in community treatment for substance use, who may be affected by other health conditions or disabilities, using the Individual Placement and Support approach (IPS).

The aim is to help people into paid work in a way that respects their preferences and choices.


About you

  • We do not expect you to know everything about IPS – unless you are applying for the Senior Employment Specialist role, where some knowledge is helpful
  • We would like you to have experience engaging employers and helping people into work
  • We want great communication skills and the ability to build relationships with everyone from the frontline up to CEO level
  • Negotiation skills and commercial acumen
  • Drive, passion and commitment
  • Proven ability to build rapport with people and especially understanding issues for people with affected by substance misuse or similar conditions
  • Boundless enthusiasm, excellent teamwork and the ability to work in a target driven environment
  • Strong written/verbal/ and organisational skills

Turning Point are a leading social enterprise, providing health and social care services in over 300 locations in England, including delivery of the community drug and alcohol treatment service in Oldham and Rochdale.

We are working in partnership to bring together our different areas of expertise to create a high quality service for clients accessing this exciting new IPS programme.
