The Supported Employment Team, centrally based in Kemp Town, offer time-limited employment advice, coaching and support to people who have disabilities. The Supported Employment Team provide advice or support to find or maintain work and has gained a kite-mark award from the British Association for Supported Employment (BASE). By providing the right support, the team successfully helps Brighton and Hove residents develop job skills, and secure paid or voluntary work.

The Supported Employment Team are looking to recruit a motivated, creative person to join our dynamic and supportive team on a full time fixed term contract ending 31st March 2020, to help continue to develop an excellent service.

About the role

The challenging role of the Employment Officer vacancy involves working with a wide range of individuals, employers and professionals. You will be have the ability to support people in a wide range of workplace environments, so the use of good assessment and negotiation skills are highly valued.

Due to the nature of the role, you will be comfortable working in a fast changing environment, as part of a close and committed team. The main skills that you are required to utilise are;

  • Work independently
  • Manage your own workload on a day to day basis, 
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills - both written and verbal
  • Flexible
  • Self motivated
  • Well organised

You will need to have an awareness of issues that may arise for disabled people in the local labour market, as well as an understanding of employer’s needs.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency's Points-based Immigration System.
