Employment & Communities Support Workers (Surrey Choices)

Salary: £21,410 - £23,390 per annum
Post: Full Time, 37.5 hours per week. These roles are fixed-term for one year with the possibility of extension
Location: 3 posts: Guildford (1 post) and Redhill (2 posts)

This specialist role is all about providing support and training to people with disabilities to overcome barriers to employment and secure the job or volunteering role they want. Could this be you?

What does a Future Choices Employment Support Specialist do?

As an Employment and Communities Support Specialist you enable your customers with a disability - to achieve their own personal employment and local community inclusion goals. You will support in career guidance, job applications, interview support as well as support to attend social and leisure activities which you will play a part in organising and coordinating.  This will mean being hands on with job coaching and travel training during the day with some flexibility for evening and weekends. Strong employer engagement ability and excellent negotiation and communication skills required.

What we ask of you

  • An ability to work in a multi-agency environment
  • Finding solutions to problems and being creative with various options
  • Strong resilience and determination to find a vocational outcome
  • Attention to detail and ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Ability to prioritise work in an environment that may have conflicting pressures and demands
  • Negotiating and sales aptitude with an ability to motivate others
  • Ability to understand and work within relevant legislation, particularly around disability and employment
  • Flexible working to cover weekends and evenings if appropriate
  • Car driver
  • Excellent written skills in order to write professional reports and demonstrate good record keeping
