North Wales Together

North Wales Together

North Wales Together Learning Disability Transformation Programme is one of 4 transformation programmes in North Wales funded by the Welsh Government via the ‘A Healthier Wales’ Transformation Fund and more recently the Regional Integration Fund.

North Wales Together is a partnership between the six local authorities ( Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Gwynedd, Isle of Anglesey, Wrexham), Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board and the wider learning disability community in North Wales.

The programme is supported by a regional team whose role it is to provide resources to the partners to implement the North Wales Learning Disability Strategy. The strategy is broad based and structured around what people with learning disabilities have told us is important to them: having a good place to live; having something meaningful to do; friends, family and relationships; being safe; being healthy; having the right support

One of these areas is paid employment – to respond to this we established a new employment workstream in the third year of the programme. We are working with our partners to improve access to and availability to good quality supported employment for people with learning disabilities who are known to local authority learning disabilities services. Our other streams of work are: accommodation, children and young people, technology, and health.

In 2022, we undertook a research project to understand how  well North Wales is currently meeting the individual development needs of young people with learning disabilities and where improvement is needed.
