Ambitious About Autism

Ambitious About Autism

Ambitious about Autism is the national charity for children and young people with autism. We provide services, raise awareness and understanding, and campaign for change. Through TreeHouse School, The Rise School and Ambitious College we offer specialist education and support. Our ambition is to make the ordinary possible for more children and young people with autism.

Ambitious about Autism and the Civil Service have been working together since 2015 to develop the Autism Exchange work experience programme. The programme provides young people (aged 16-25) with a diagnosis of autism:

  • Paid experiences of work with employers who want to develop their talent pool
  • Careers advice and support before and after their work experience
  • Support from Ambitious about Autism during the work experience placement.

The programme provides employers:

  • Training, advice and support on recruiting, retaining and supporting an autistic intern
  • Access to a wide talent pool
  • Support from Ambitious about Autism during the work experience placement.

The programme provides professionals:

  • Training opportunities on how to support autistic clients and/or colleagues
  • Opportunities for your clients to access paid experiences of work
  • Advice and resources which will support your service to deliver good quality careers support.
