The Supported Business Directory is designed as an aid to Procurement Officers looking to source products under the Article 19 European regulations. We hope that you will find the Directory an invaluable tool in helping your organisation source products from quality suppliers whose purpose is to provide sustainable employment to people with a disabilty. The Directory contains searchable listings of businesses and their products and services. The site is managed by BASE, the British Association for Supported Employment, working in partnership with OGC and Remploy. |

The Article 19 regulations form a part of European legislation that allows organisations to reserve public contracts for supported businesses. The procurement of any goods an/or services can be reserved. A supported business employs disabled people as over 50% of its workforce. This means it’s ok to invite only supported businesses to bid for the work. For contracts under £144k you simply invite the supported business to bid or offer them the chance to match your best price. For larger contracts simply tick the ‘reserve under Article 19’ box in the EU advert. |

Groundbreaking tender exercise to help provide employment for disabled workers |

The Minister for Finance and Public Service Delivery, Andrew Davies, has announced that the Welsh Assembly Government has become one of the first public sector organisations within the UK to undertake a tender exercise that is reserved for supported businesses and supported factories. We encourage suppliers to ensure that listings are kept up to date. A site is only as good as the information on it and there's nothing worse or more disappointing than finding out that the supplier cannot deliver the products advertised.
